The new SyFy series, Haunted Collector, premiered on June 1st. I watched part of it. It wasn’t that great of a show. And as I read the comments from other blogs about the new series, seems everyone else is saying the same thing. It is nothing but a scam show.

My question is – why do we believe that we can actually transfer our thoughts, feelings, and fears to an inanimate object in the first place?
Really? An inanimate object can be haunted? I don’t think so. I believe that it takes a being, with a brain, to be so-called possessed. I highly doubt that an inanimate object can be possessed. But people are still gullible enough to think that an object is causing their hauntings. Please.
And I’m still not sure that I even believe in possession in the first place. If something, a ghost or demon or spirit, has the power to takeover someone, even if briefly, then they would be doing it all the time. Right? If I were dead and had the power to possess people at a whim, I’d be doing it all the time. Why not? It would be fun. It would allow me to do things that I can’t do while I’m dead.
And demons, supposedly live to possess people. Why aren’t there more possessions if this truly can actually happen? I guess that is a good question, isn’t it.
One of the only movies I ever saw that haunts me to this day was about a haunted object. I was very young when I watched this movie. But it scared the hell out of me. I have looked and looked for this movie on IMDB. The movie was about a little toy horse on wheels that was possessed. The toy horse actually got bigger. It grew! The family throws the toy horse in the trash, but it returns. Then they burn it, and it still returns. It was creepy. The toy horse would roll out from under the bed, which is the part that kept me running and jumping into my bed for years. I kept thinking it was going to come out from under my bed. But now I am all grown up, and don’t believe that it is the object that is haunted – it is a ghost that is playing with the object making it appear as though the object itself is haunted.
So as far as the new series, which features John Zaffis, and his family, going around and collecting supposedly haunted items from vulnerable people – it isn’t going to last long. Zaffis keeps these “haunted objects” in a museum he built next to his house. He supposedly cleanses all the objects before placing them in the museum. Why not cleanse the objects for the people and leave them with the owners? Has he thought of that? Not to mention the fact that he has to get the objects APPRAISED before he can determine if they are haunted. What? Are you kidding? He just wants to know the value of the object so he can claim it to be haunted and place in his museum to be sold later. I can’t believe people.
Anyway, I cringe when I hear people talk about this doll being haunted and causing havoc. Or I hear about some piano that is haunted by the person that once played it. Or a gun that is haunted and the dead owner is coming back for the gun. Give me a break. Be scared of the ghost not the object!
If you are experiencing paranormal phenomena in your home or work or wherever, it isn’t from an object. They DON’T have thoughts. They DON’T have a brain to transmit feelings. Only an actual ghost or spirit could be causing the paranormal activity you are experiencing. It is a ghost, not the object.
SyFy has quite a few new good sci-fi shows coming out this summer, but so far, Haunted Collector, is not one of them.
