If you didn’t catch the new series “Deception” last night, you missed a treat. The sneak peek episode aired last night (May 31st) and it was quite funny to watch, and a little scary too.
Keith Barry, from Ireland, calls himself a Mentalist, and his new series debuted on the Discovery Channel last night, here in the U.S. A regular episode airs tonight at 9:00 pm central time, which will be its regular week day. Last nights episode was about Black Ops. Tonight’s episode is about reading people’s minds and implanting thoughts. I can’t wait to see this! I am so ready!
The first video below gives you an idea about what the show is all about. It was featured on the show last night, which was basically about Black Ops experiments by the CIA, Russians, and Hitler regarding mind control. Barry took people off the street, no actors, and performed hypnosis on them and got them to do things they didn’t even remember doing. It was hilarious. He constantly reminds us that “no actors” were being used. He even hypnotized a mass audience in a theater! And of course no one even remembers being hypnotized. But these people are then shown the video that proves he hypnotized them and they performed stupid things while under his influence. Bullcrap!
He goes on to recount the now known secrets of Black Op projects from around the world who experimented with hypnosis, mind control, and sleeper agents.
It is no secret that these groups went to great lengths in their experiments to control people’s minds, implant thoughts, invade dreams, and read minds. The mystery of a real life Manchurian Candidate is still pursued today, with books and movies. I couldn’t help but think of the movie “Inception” that came out last year. It was one of those wild and crazy movies about implanting thoughts into someone’s mind. It was an excellent movie, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
Well, I haven’t ever heard of Keith Barry before, but now I know, after watching the show, that he is, in my opinion, nothing more than a “mentalist” (magician) that uses tricks of the hands and tricks of the mouth.
He asks during the show – “is it possible to control someone’s mind and then use that person to carry out operations against another country, group, or whatever, and them not realizing it?” That question has been asked many times. Hence the reason the CIA, Hitler, and Russians did experiments. Those experiments are still going on today. How far have they gone with mind control? I hear they used LSD in these experiments. Even some still believe that there is evidence that Sirhan Sirhan who assassinated Robert F. Kennedy was a Manchurian Candidate, who carried out his assassination under hypnosis. And I’ve even heard theories that maybe Jack Ruby was under the influence of mind control when he assassinated Lee Harvey Oswald. You can hear three very distinct car beeps just before Ruby pulls out his gun in the video. Could be, right? And a few wonder if those beeps weren’t the “trigger” sound that made him act. Hmmmmm.
Barry also tests his “abilities” during the show and hypnotizes a man and turns him into a sleeper agent, just like Sirhan Sirhan. Oh please! I didn’t believe this show – not one minute of it! I might be able to believe Sirhan Sirhan was a sleeper agent – for they could have brainwashed him and controlled him for months even years. But Barry made this guy a sleeper agent in just a few hours, supposedly. It would take a great deal more effort than a few hours to get someone to poison someone and steal from him in front of a room full of people. I mean, come on. Think people. This isn’t real!
Barry supposedly could walk up to someone and in a few seconds (yes seconds) have control over someone and have them hypnotized – with total control of that person’s subconscious mind. That’s a load of crap. No one could do that. Especially not in 3 minutes flat! No way!
If what this show and Keith Barry’s abilities were really true, someone somewhere would have used this to their benefit a LONG TIME AGO! It would be happening all the time. Democrats would be hypnotizing masses of people. Republicans would be doing the same thing. Sports agents would be making their athletes the greatest ever. Someone would make a sleeper agent and have them kill somebody, like a President or Queen, or Dictator. Countries would be sending sleeper agents to their enemies to do harm or assassinations. We would see someone unleash diseases or bacteria and have no idea that it was them who did it, for they would be programmed to not remember once they did the act. Have we seen any of this? No! If it was real, we would see this over and over again. Think about it. If you could control someone’s mind and actions – what would you do? How would use it for your gain and advantage. What if you were running for office? What if you were a cop? What if you were a criminal? Think!!!!
What gets me is that people are truly going to believe that this show is real. How do we know that no actors are used? How do we know exactly what really happened, when the show is edited? How do we know these people aren’t just people off the street that have been paid? We don’t and that’s the problem. And remember – it is a TV SHOW! It wants ratings. Only ratings.
Remember the show “John Edward” who claimed to be a psychic medium and supposedly talked to dead people or spirits and had his own show for a while? This guy Keith Barry is the same thing, just a different person. All he has done is master body language, facial expressions, magic tricks, and cheap hypnosis tricks to fool people. Nothing more.
This guy even claims that he can put a video on the internet and anyone who watches it can be hypnotized. I don’t think so. Try me – I’m game. I bet I win.
He can call it Brain Magic, Mentalism, Synthetic telepathy, Magic, Psychic, or whatever – it is still nothing but fooling people. It is not real. But it is so cool to watch.
Now I know, most people, around 80-85%, are very easy to hypnotize. And as he states in his show, that extroverts are more likely to be vulnerable to hypnosis. And I know that some believe that hypnosis has been used as a tool to uncover details from someone, to remember something, and used for hypnotherapy. But this is all hogwash. You already have whatever it is that you need to remember, it is just someone giving you a SUGGESTION that your mind thinks is a new idea – and bam – you now can remember that detail or whatever. Don’t be fooled!

Hey Regina, I do find the street hypnotizing is quite overwhelming and seem too good to be true too.
However, that is not my main point, my focus is on the sleeper agent. I think it is possible, and what u have seen in that episode is real.
Correct me if i am wrong, I recalled that he said something about selecting his target in a “don’t know how many people” group. With that in mind, he found a guy who claim to always mix his reality and his dreams… I reckon that Keith has found this target easy to manipulate, and Keith predicted that this target will do the things he tells his target to with the “it is just a dream” mindset.
In conclusion, sleeper agent is possible but it can only be done to those people who always mix their reality up with their dreams which is a small percentage of the world population

haha67 – I could believe that a sleeper agent could be created with someone who fits the profile of being easy to manipulate, very fantasy prone, goes along with others easy, and so forth. But this sleeper agent isn’t going to be made in a few minutes time, nor just a few hours or days. Nothing like Keith shows us in his show. I truly believe that it takes weeks and weeks, maybe even months, to create a true sleeper agent.
On the contrary guys “sleeper agents” are nothing more than hypnotized people. When hypnotized one can insert information directly to your subconscious where you have to either think hard to recall it or be hypnotized again to recall it.
I have done an exercise with a bunch of people, giving them images, colors and numbers within a minute and tried to see how many can recall most of those. The trick here is to push as much information as possible to your subconscious and be able to pull as much as well. I can do it.
Sleeper agents are hypnotized to bypass the step where they have to push or pull the information themselves. When they see the information in their conscious state it is as if they dreamt it or was a premonition.
He is really good to watch, just amazing stuffs.

Blabla, actually I’m not stupid or ignorant. I have done some research and if you have done any research of your own you would find out that I’m right. Keith Barry is a magician. He does illusions. That’s what he does. You can’t hypnotize someone off the street in a few seconds. I am not wrong on that. Barry is an illusionist and most people believe that what he shows us is real. It isn’t. It’s an illusion. I really feel for those people who actually believe Keith Barry! That’s what sad.
Don’t confuse “magic” and illusions with NLP techniques, or at least have the decency to differentiate between illusionists that do card tricks and alike and a bit of misdirecting and the ones that focus on an entirely different topic. You really shouldn’t be talking that derogatory about stuff that you just don’t understand, that’s the small man’s defense, “it’s not real, they are actors” and so on. I’ll just say they are not actors and the stuff you see there is real, but of course you won’t believe me, cause I’m just saying stuff without proof, right? Well, the difference is I actually have some info about this and I’m not rejecting or accepting what I see on TV just based on “common sense” and no research. I agree Ragina, keith has said already that his show is only for entetainment purpose and i dont believe that someone can hypnotize a person just by touching them or just by confusing them, and it’s totally imposible to hypnotize a guy who never had faith in hypnosis, keith is a good body language reader and he is a great magician, he has earlier been in so many magic shows, so it’s clear that the whole show is scripted and was only for showing off the extra-ordinary powers of hypnosis which is going to be more confusing for so many peoples…lol
regina, yes u r right that the show and keith has lots of retakes, editing ,props and then it is being delivered to us only to entertain and for the channel t.r.p’s. But i think, it is a part of presentation, even in man vs wild they do editing….yes, if u call it just an another magic trik then i must say that- a magic trick is a future science, the science of any work or process which is not known to us, is a magic..
But when we become familiar to that science then we believe it…that how it works

Just watched kaith barry’s show, so called “Deception” , actually Deception and Inception does exists but in real facts it takes alot of time to get into someone’s mind and put a thought in it or steal some information or makethem a dual personality, and for that acts you must have to be an extra ordinary knowlageble person about Deception tricks or processes, now let me tell you the truth

Well it has been a while since the Keith Barry series aired & I see the lad is back to doing pubs and clubs. I noted his three lotto tickets he posted on his website had one correct number, I do better than that. Looking at his current work, it appears he is this generations funny hypnotist, they have been coming from Ireland for decades now. We went to see hispredecesor do the same show Keith is doing now, it took hours of pre show warm up to get people receptive, then only half those hypnotised went under. Still it was a fun series whilst it lasted, the other 2 shows mentioned are laborious to watch.

Keith and his fantastic acts.Yes they are fantastic cuz they only happen in fantasy world.Sherlock Holmes,the imaginary character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is more realistic and convincing compared to Keith’s so-called feats.Keith performs so many acts like hypnotizing,mind reading,predicting,past reading etc.He goes on and on as if he is some sort of hero. But did you notice, he only explained only two of his acts namely LIE DETECTING and POWER OF OBSERVING.Come on man we all know about the principles of lie detecting and observing things.But he never mentioned how he predicted that the man was going to leave the room exactly at 10:30 after getting tired.He never explained how he saw the painter painting Pogo Stick in his mind.He never explained that how he found the secret of that Girl’s first kiss.He never said how he matched his choice exactly with pool player.My point is if he is really honest then he must explain atleast one of this acts in detail because without explanation it becomes a magic show and we all know magic is not real and to pay people to play their act is not a new thing.Keith cant explain his feats,cuz they arent real.Regina is perfectly right when she says that its the world of television and entertainment and anything can happen in this world.
James, I can tell you exactly how he did his feats. It’s called “suggestions”. Specifically the power of suggestion, which has been demonstrated as very real. But the extremes that Keith Barry used, obviously is just an act of magic and entertainment. I agree with you, if you can’t explain in detail – then it’s just another trick. Thanks for your comment. James, finally someone agrees with me! Thank you. I do remember the scene, and it wasn’t the only one in which Barry told the person everything they needed to know. And guess what, they repeated exactly what he told them. Bunch of crap and I don’t believe it.
I have no doubt that he has mastered reading expressions, body language, and excellent observation skills, just like a magician does. But reading body language is one thing – hypnotizing is completely different. It was really entertaining – but not realistic whatsoever.
And everyone needs to keep in mind that this was for entertainment and a TV show. TV shows live and breathe by ratings. They have to make it look good or it gets cancelled. My favorite was hypnotizing a guy to steal the suitcase from the woman in the restaurant, and potentially kill someone. Please. It was fun to watch – but not real in any way.
Regina, I am dead sure this is possible and real. You are right stating that governments have spent years and millions of dollars to learn those techniques but it does not prove you right. Every government in the world is lying and cheating it’s own country and we witness that on daily basis. Only 20 years ago a smart phone like Galaxy or IPhone would be considered a matter of pure science fiction and I am sure many would not believe it is possible. From the other side with all our contemporary technologies and means to communicate there has never been deadlier wars and conflicts around the globe. I think this is the way they make people do what they want them to do. Look at the regions with violence and conflict going on for decades. Why would multi-ethnic country that leaved in prosperity and piece burst into a deadly conflict over short period of time. People follow their leaders and those can be controlled or told what to do during meeting with peace envoy “behind the closed door” and never remember of orders they have issued, strategies they have initiated etc. That way those whose dream is to control the world never appear guilty. I am sure there are teams of field agents capable of making some suitable individuals commit atrocities in order to create chaos, fear and all those ugly things between people. And they do not have to use it all the time and every day. Look how America reacted on 9/11. For many years after that every Arab person was potential enemy and terrorist regardless of the fact that there are some 30% of Christian Arabs. It is enough to push the wheel down the hill and it will keep rolling. Just create fear powerful enough. I suggest you get in touch with Keith Barry and try it personally. In case you fall among 15% of less sensitive to hypnoses you should make a list of a few friends you can trust and take them along. I am sure Discovery would not mind gaining on popularity and covering some minor expenses to bring you over from wherever you are.

My point in this post was about the show “Deception” with Keith Barry. In his show, he stops people on the street and supposedly hypnotizes them and gets them to do all kinds of things. Bullshit I say. It takes weeks, even months, maybe years to brainwash someone into doing something that they normally wouldn’t do. There are all kinds of little “magic” tricks and short hypnotic tricks that can be pulled off at a moment’s notice, but not what he did in this show. And the show only aired here in the US 4 times. Already cancelled. That tells you something.
Regina, the fact that it has been canceled tells everything to me. It is obvious sign of how dangerously Kith Barry exposed to the public audience the “great secret” of shady organizations and services. I saw his show few times on Discovery during last week and could not believe my own eyes. That’s how I came across this discussion, searching information about Keith Barry. The show was loudly advertised all over, but than suddenly canceled without any announcement or explanation. And Discovery is not some 2nd division broadcaster. They have been ordered to cut-the-crap and STOP. Why don’t we simply ask Discovery? I mean we are adults and we can recognize the lies. We all know when Berlusconi is lying about that Moroccan girl or other numerous politicians trying to convince “plebs” how honest and decent they are. We shall recognize if Discovery comes with some bullshit answer. I do not have serious knowledge about hypnotic tricks and techniques but I believe Keith’s performance is very much possible. Back in the early 17th century Galileo Galilei, the father of modern science, was tried by the Inquisition, found “vehemently suspect of heresy”, forced to recant, and spent the rest of his life under house arrest. Haris, I completely agree with you – but I’m not sure that the government has asked the Discovery channel to stop airing and to cut the crap. If that was true, then they would also be asking the same for the shows “Conspiracy Theory” with Jesse Ventura and “Decoded” with Brad Meltzer. They too are airing “secrets” to the public that I’m sure the government wants to keep quiet and all hush hush. Although I have heard from the grapevine that one reason the show “UFO Hunters” was cancelled was due to them getting “too close” to exposing government secrets and were shut down. But I have no truly absolute reliable source regarding that information. So I do believe that the gov’t can ask a TV channel to stop airing a show due to “classified” or “security” reasons – and am sure they have in the past.
However, I don’t believe that Keith Barry (or anyone else) can walk up to me and hypnotize me in 3 seconds flat and get me to do something ask my will. It just can’t happen without multiple attempts and a willingness to be hypnotized (or drugged). It just can’t happen that fast.
But does that kind of crap go on in the government? Absolutely. They have clandestine projects with mind control, and hypnosis, and so on, all the time. But that kind of Keith Barr tricks takes time to achieve at the level that was shown on the show. It takes time. It can’t be done in a few seconds and poof- you’re hypnotized instantly. I Don’t believe that.

Interesting post, but Barry clearly states it’s for entertainment purposes and sure they might be glorified party tricks/gags but isn’t that the point? He’s just better at it than most people and often times tells you how he does it. Ever see his TED talk?
Lefty, you are partly right. Barry does say that in his show, HE’S only doing it for entertainment purposes. But he also asks questions like – Is it possible to program someone to drug or even kill someone and steal documents from that person and bring them back to you? And then Barry proceeds to show us how he does it. And Barry asks – What would you do if you could read someone’s mind? Or can you plant thoughts into someone else? And he proceeds to show us how he does it. Barry is an expert in reading people’s body language, eye movements, and is a master hypnotist. He can do SOME of those things quite easily. But he does, kind of in-between the lines, hints that maybe governments have used some of the techniques he shows us on the show, for their own programs and doings. Its hard to miss his underlying hints. The manchurian candidate comes to mind, and he even talked about it on the show.
So yes, the show is “entertaining” – but millions of dollars and years and years have been spent to try to learn those techniques – so it isn’t anywhere as easy as he makes it seem. It’s a TV show. With props, and a crew, and editing, and retakes. And I don’t believe for a moment, master hypnotist or not, you can hypnotize someone with a couple of waves of a hand – and they will do anything you want them to! And they don’t remember it? No way in hell! That is a lie. If anyone could actually do that- then it would be used all the time. What he portrays in his show is unreal. It is staged. It is a TV show. It is not real. But no doubt, some will believe this is all completely real.
